iButtons ROM - Read Only Memory iButtons
Information is recorded and stored in the Escutcheon or Control Unit (Firmware) and the ID carriers (keys) are 'fixed'.
This means that when user profiles are changed the iButton keys do not require re-programming. Instead the escutcheons and control units are up-dated.
Ideal system for small and medium size buildings as well as for those where updating of the doors is preferred over up-dating the keys.
iButton RW- Read Write iButtons
Here most of the information is recorded in the keys.
This requires fewer visits to the doors as the lock-info to be up-dated is reduced to a minimum. E.g. adding a new user is as simple as programming a new key, without the need of going to the doors.
Keys can have a limited or unlimited expiry date, and the access info regarding locking plan, time zones etc. is all recorded on the keys.
Deletion of invalid keys does not require a door up-date, as this info can be carried on the updated keys of the other users.
Ideal system for all types of buildings as this technology allows the management of up to 64.000 users and 64.000 doors.
